To us sponsoring a child goes a long way into building the next generation. Here in Africa a child is raised by the entire village but this approach too is becoming challenging especially in cases where the village is under privileged & marginalized that even the basic needs are hard to come by and if there’s any chance then one has to travel 6km to access it. Hundreds of children lack resources to acquire basic education and as a result many of them resort to do menial roles such as cattle keeping, farming and wasting away in the villages. Therefore, with your generous support KCI reaches out to the vulnerable children in the vulnerable, hard to reach and poverty-stricken areas. These are children that are handicapped, orphaned, living with HIV aids, hail from war torn or alcohol torn families, children of widowed mothers among others.
Our approach is to provide ongoing care that includes regular home visits, food, health care, clothing, psycho-socio support, career guidance and education right from primary to higher institution of learning/vocational/tertiary.
As a sponsor you have an opportunity to receive a correspondence, a report card copy, and visit and physically meet “your child” and get to know them better. Visitation windows are usually during school holidays to avoid unnecessary disruptions. Requests for intended visits have to be registered 3 months in advance to enable proper planning and scheduling. We also have general visiting window which is usually December every year.
For only $70 a month, your contribution will be able to provide;
- School fees
- Scholastic materials
- Daily meals at school
- Medical support
- Clothing
- Home care visits
- Life skills & counseling
You are not limited to financial support only, you can offer an in-kind support, or even VOLUNTEER in any of the services extended to the children such as home visits, career guidance, psycho-socio support, counseling sessions, etc.
